Nestled deep in the magical woodlands of Byron Bay’s hinterland – where fairies and trolls still live – lays a secluded estate from 1893.. The original Bencluna homestead, built from timbers felled on the property is a peaceful and intimate little hideaway sitting on 6 acres of gardens, native rainforest and macadamia’s.
It’s a romantic scene for an elopement or intimate bespoke wedding in the Byron Bay hinterland. A well kept secret, little known amongst other more established Byron Bay wedding venues such as The Fig Tree Byron Bay, Earth House Byron Bay and Forget Me Not Byron Bay – all located in the hinterland – Bencluna Estate is a bit of a hidden gem.
Byron Bay had been a frequent road trip destination for Nathan and Michaela during their time as a dating couple and the area held a special place in their hearts. The pair decided to ditch the mega wedding production and asked their closest family and friends to join them for a fun and intimate wedding affair in the hinterland. A complete outdoor event, it consisted of an outdoor ceremony, a mega bon fire and the most intimate outdoor reception I think I’ve ever witnessed. Candle lit long tables lined up under the protection of the macadamia trees, family style dinner service and a late night boogie under the stars to conclude the night. It felt so personal to Nathan and Michaela, just the way you’d want your wedding to be.
