Oh boy, where do I even start? I mean, the Blue Mountains have got to be one of the best places to elope in Australia. There are tons of great wedding venues in the Blue Mountains, but sheesh, I don’t know if any of them can really compete with the views and the experience that a proper adventurous elopement in the Blue Mountain’s with just your partner and no one else can offer.
Elopements, and in particular adventurous elopements seem to be a growing trend in Australia (and across the world) as more and more couples opt for an intimate and personal affair in a location that’s dear to them, rather than a big wedding party. No rights or wrongs here, just personal preference. I must say though, that elopements have a special place in my heart as they are very intimate, unique and very, very personal. Nothing you have to do, no one you have to invite just because you have to, no table placement anxiety, no expectations and rules, nope – just you and your human vowing eternity to each other.
Rachel and Greg’s Blue Mountains elopement was no different. It was all but generic and cookie cutter. In fact, if you knew these guys you’d know there’s no way they could ever do something cookie cutter. What struck me from the moment I met these two is that they are so unique and so comfortable with being themselves, I LOVE THAT. In fact, I was meant to be in Europe during the time of their elopement but flew back early because there was no way on earth I’d miss out on such an epic adventure.
Whilst in Europe, I emailed back and forth with Greg and Rachel as we eagerly discussed what might be the best places to elope in the Blue Mountains. It’s safe to say the options were aplenty, so if you’ve ever thinking of eloping in the Blue Mountains – hit me up and I’d love to give you some suggestions. We finally settled on the Walls Lookout and Mt Banks. Rachel and Greg got ready in a little cabin nearby and we then hiked for about 45 minutes through some of the most beautiful native Australian bushland until the tree line thinned out and revealed the glory of God. Sheesh – I think I’ll let the photos do the rest of the talking.
