A short drive from the bright lights of Melbourne and a stone’s throw from the oceans shore you’ll find The Barn Wallington. Picture this, a rustic countryside barn cradled among towering gum trees on 30 acres of rolling hills, that’s the scene for Mark and Lauren’s wedding. If you’re anything like me and you love rustic, country, barn-style wedding venues, you’ll love looking through these photos. As a photographer, this place was a dream to photograph. Long rows of restored-wood tables ambiently lit with hundreds of live candles and century old chandeliers make you feel like you’re at Hogwarts (where my Harry Potter fans at?).
Finding places with unique charm and character like The Barn Wallington can be hard. That said, Victoria and the outer Melbourne region has a bit to offer in the space of country, rustic and barn wedding venues. With the likes of Basils farm, Baxter Barn, Gum Gully Farm, One Day Estate and Aghadoe Estate all being a rather short drive from Melbourne CBD. Some of these venues are fully catered whilst others are BYO and open to outside catering, like The Barn Wallington. Lauren and Mark teamed up with the amazing folks over at Truffleduck for their wedding catering. I honestly cannot speak highly enough of my experience with the Truffleduck staff, the kindest and most genuine team – and the food was to freaking die for.
If you have guests traveling from out of state there’s lots of reasons they might want to stay an extra couple of nights. The location of The Barn Wallington is more or less the gateway to the Great Ocean Road, which winds alongside the wild and windswept Southern Ocean. It’s widely known as one of the worlds most scenic coastal drives. Not a bad plus.
So here we are with Mark and Lauren and more love than you can handle. It’s always special to witness love stories that ooze of big love and a sense of community amongst the guests. Happy looking!
